We had hired several test prep tutors through a number of local tutoring agencies, but none of them seemed to be clicking with my student. We had expected the tutoring support to help her build confidence, but instead it had only made her anxiety worse. When I consulted her school counselor, he told me about Jay’s ‘interesting’ way of approaching test prep, and that I should talk with him.

I reached out to Jay, and conveniently set up an initial appointment. Jay was extremely understanding and communicative, and I could see that he was not only quickly building rapport with my student, but naturally motivating her to get more engaged. He asked her some questions about herself, and had her explain how she would solve some problems. In 30 minutes, he completely understood how my student processes information, laid out how she could better tackle problem-solving, and casually dropped in a good half-a-dozen tactics that she had never seen before. That’s when I just knew that we had found the right person.

Jay and his team worked with my student for about 3 months. They started with a couple of 60-minute sessions each week, and sent us a thorough report after each session highlighting what they worked on, how my student responded, and what to expect next. It was clear that they were keen to make sure that everyone involved was fully aware of my student’s progress at any given moment. For the last month or so, she took one or two practice tests each week, as Jay communicated closely with me to ensure that she could ride her best momentum into her real test day.

My student loved studying with Jay because of his constant encouragement and unwavering confidence in her, and always appreciated that he respected her own ways of seeing the world. All in all, I would confidently say that their caring attention to all the small details made a HUGE difference.
